dc.description.abstract "To the reader" signed: Jo. Tillotson. The portrait is signed: M. Beale pinx. R. White sculp. Volume 1: "A discourse of repentance" and "A discourse of seeking first the kingdom of God" each has separate dated title page; pagination and register are continuous. Volume 2 is dated MDCLXXXV, i.e. 1685, and has title: A second volume of discourses. Volume 2: A1 is blank. A variant of the edition with John Lawrence named as bookseller in imprint. Imperfect: copy at reel 309:4 is vol. 2 only. Reproductions of originals in the Henry E. Huntington Library and Art Gallery and the Folger Shakespeare Library.
