dc.description.abstract Not in fact by John Canne, but rather a satirical attack on Canne and the Parliament; sometimes attributed to Samuel Butler. A second part, "The continuation of the acts and monuments ..", was published in the same year. The last leaf bears a note signed by J.C. and "A cure for the state", a prescription, signed: P.C. Doctor of physick. Annotation on Thomason copy: "October. 19". Reproductions of the originals in the Harvard University Library and the British Library.
