<A 1> <S 1> (Just sitzet in einem Winkel, schlummert und redet im Traume.) <P Just> Schurke von einem Wirte! Du, uns? - Frisch, Bruder! - Schlag zu, Bruder! (Er holt aus und erwacht durch die Bewegung.) Heda! schon wieder? Ich mache kein Auge zu, so schlage ich mich mit ihm herum. Haette er nur erst die Haelfte von allen den Schlaegen! -- Doch sieh, es ist Tag! Ich muss nur bald meinen armen Herrn aufsuchen. Mit meinem Willen soll er keinen Fuss mehr in das vermaledeite Haus setzen. Wo wird er die Nacht zugebracht haben? <S 2> (Der Wirt. Just.) <P Wirt> Guten Morgen, Herr Just, guten Morgen! Ei, schon so frueh auf? Oder soll ich sagen: noch so spaet auf? <P Just> Sage Er, was Er will. <P Wirt> Ich sage nichts als "Guten Morgen"; und das verdient doch wohl, dass Herr Just "Grossen Dank" darauf sagt? <P Just> Grossen Dank! <P Wirt> Man ist verdriesslich, wenn man seine gehoerige Ruhe nicht haben kann. Was gilt's, der Herr Major ist nicht nach Hause gekommen, und Er hat hier au . . .
