DANJONES (Daniel Jones English Pronouncing Dictionary)

DANJONES contains over 34,000 entries from the English
Pronouncing Dictionary by Daniel Jones, 12th edition,
Everyman, Dent, London 1963. The keying-in was arranged by
Professor L. Guierre of the Sorbonne, and the work is
described (in French) in 'Etudes de Linguistique Appliquee',
1966, Vol 4, pp 48-64. The version described here is much
the same as described by Guierre, except for the character
set used in the pronunciation-field, as I'll explain later.
The file contains all the entries in the book except
for most of the proper nouns, though adjectives of
nationality and suchlike have been retained.
Each line contains one entry of 101 characters.
Columns 1-20 contain the spelling, in capital letters,
including apostrophes and . . .
